About Canada Farsi
Canada Farsi is a free, independent Farsi-language tool for Express Entry applicants. CRS calculator, comparison against the last 12 IRCC draws, and email alerts when your score qualifies — all free, no signup gate, no tracking, no ads.
Why this exists
About 200,000 Iranians live in Canada, and thousands apply through Express Entry every year. But IRCC's official site is English/French only — an entire generation of Iranian families needed a simple Farsi tool to answer "is my score enough?" and it didn't exist.
Two denied Crown Copyright requests
In 2019 and 2021, the founder of this project (Shayan Asadi) sent two formal Crown Copyright Clearance requests to the Government of Canada asking permission to translate the Express Entry pages of IRCC's website into Farsi. Both were denied. The government's reasoning: translation of official content requires Crown Copyright clearance, which was not granted for unofficial Farsi versions.
«چه کشوری به متقاضیان مهاجرتش پشت میکند، آن هم وقتی فقط میخواهند قوانین همان کشور را به زبان مادریشان بفهمند؟» — یادداشت داخلی پروژه، ۲۰۲۱
"Who turns down their own immigration applicants who just want to understand the country's policies in their mother tongue?" — Internal project note, 2021
The solution: a tool, not a translation
Crown Copyright restricts translation, not computation. Under Canadian law, raw facts (like draw scores) are not copyrightable (Tele-Direct (Publications) Inc. v. American Business Information, Inc., Supreme Court of Canada, 1997). So we built:
- A CRS calculator (we implement the official formula — our original work).
- A draw-data tracker (facts, not copyrighted expression).
- Original Farsi summaries and analysis (rewriting, not translation).
- Direct links to canada.ca for anything official.
این رویکرد بهسادگی مسئلهی Crown Copyright را دور میزند، و در عین حال ابزاری واقعاً مفید برای متقاضیان فارسیزبان فراهم میکند.
Where the data comes from
Draw data is officially from IRCC, but canada.ca blocks programmatic
access to its own website (Akamai bot mitigation that detects non-browser TLS
fingerprints). So we mirror daily from
canadavisa.com
— the same official data they have maintained accurately for years — and reconcile
against IRCC's press releases.
Who's behind this
Shayan Asadi — Iranian-Canadian software engineer based in Montréal. This is a side project, built in spare time. There is no revenue except for three featured Iranian-Canadian immigration consultants (details) — a flat monthly advertising fee, with no per-lead or referral fees.
