Tirgan is a biennial Iranian arts and culture festival at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre, drawing 150,000+ visitors with music, literature, theatre, dance, and Persian food. Smaller off-year events (Tirgan Nowruz, Tirgan Mehregan) keep the programming alive every year.

Mehregan is the ancient Persian autumn festival of friendship and gratitude, celebrated each October in Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montreal. Local Iranian associations post dates and venues on Facebook and Instagram every year — search "Mehregan" plus your city.

Yalda Night — overview

Yalda Night (Dec 21, the winter solstice), Chaharshanbe Suri (the last Wednesday of the Persian year), and Sizdah Bedar (Apr 2) are the three big family holidays still widely celebrated in Canada. Sizdah Bedar in major-city parks is usually the largest Iranian gathering of the year.
